Sur180 Staff

Jaydie Valles
Research Associate and main laboratory technician for Sur180 Therapeutics at the Ponce Research Institute Labs in Ponce, PR. Jaydie has been working with Sur180 since the company's inception in 2021.

José Pagán
Research Assistant. He is responsible for assisting with laboratory procedures and pre-clinical experimentation. Jose has a significant interest in translational science and aspires to become a medical doctor.

Luis A. Rivera-Arce, PhD
Research coordinator. Luis joined Sur180 Therapeutics in July 2025. With significant experience in endometriosis and gastrointestinal physiology, he oversees GLP alignment and database management. He also coordinates communications across multiple stakeholders.

Myrella L. Cruz
Myrella is the main laboratory supervisor at our collaborative institution Ponce Research Institute. Myrella brings more than 20 years of experience in preclinical research and has mentored numerous aspiring scientists. She also serves as Archivist for GLP studies at Sur180.

Ignacio Pino, DVM advises Sur180 Therapeutics in areas such as fundraising and commercialization leveraging his experience as co-founder of CDI Labs, Mayaguez, PR, where he currently serves as COO.

Lissette Gutierrez, MD.

Principal Clinical Adviser
With over 20 years of experience in obstetrics and gynecology, she is a highly trusted clinician with expertise in sexual health, endometriosis, and complex pelvic pain. She currently serves as a Medical Science Liaison at Novo Nordisk, focused on rare renal disorders.

Carolyn Sikes, PhD
Regulatory Advisor
Carolyn has a background in neuroscience/psychoneuroendocrinology with a PhD from Duke University and a post-doctoral fellowship from Cornell University Medical College. She is a seasoned drug development and medical affairs expert, with over 30 years of experience in multiple therapeutic areas.
